Jah Lion records label is called Profound Sounds, and it is born in 2018. The first release is Mara In This World. The talented singer exalts her powerful voice on a hypnotic and deep riddim produced by Brizion from the USA. The first release out in December 2020 is called Pupa Saga, Galas & Strictly Sound - What a Gwan.
The need for a new label, arises from the fact that the sounds proposed by the new tune What a Gwan deviates from the "deep roots" imprint that Profound Sounds wants to maintain. This new label, on the other hand, wants to open a more digital strand, with more energetic rhythms, always characterized and only by the massive presence of positive vibrations "VIBES".
The birth and development of these VIBES, in such a dark and sterile era, is certainly not obvious and is the result of a synergy of elements that mixed together gave rise to this record.
Everything was born from the spontaneous connection between some great artists who, first of all, found themselves on a human and friendship level.
Like all the things that are born out of passion and feeling, they have that little special taste that makes them lasting.
Marco Strictly Sound, owner of Sagate Records, is a digital veteran and with his synthesizers and machines has resumed a historic rhythm giving him a new life. He created the sound and masterfully mixed a great dubwise that you will find on the B side of the record. He did the first mastering and the final result was amazing.
When asked about the genesis of the tune, he reported the following:
"It was a time when I sent Riddims to Saga for several projects. In that time he was in a very creative phase and on a full artistic evolution.
At one point he asked me if for me was ok to record one combination with Galas, of course I said yes :-) and from there we started this piece, I could define it all as "in friendship" :-) "
Pupa Saga is a veteran singer MC who has come from a long history of militancy in the Italian reggae scene since its infancy. I like to call him a real DJ who has something to say!
A great 360° music culture, Saga chose to express his art, embracing an orthodox 80s/early 90s ragamuffin reggae style. In the 1990s he had the opportunity to collaborate with great Jamaican artists and with Taverna Sound System in Aosta he performed in every corner of Italy.
Serious approach to Jamaican patois, great creativity, desire to transmit thick messages. These are the ingredients for a prolific musical career. His lyrics and original style still infuse the dances of Echotronix Sound Sytem, of which he is the official MC.
When asked about the genesis of the tune, he reported the following:
"I was setting up a project to release several singles sung to Marco's rhythms. At a dance I heard Galas and I liked his style. We met in a couple of situations in the Turin area and I spontaneously asked him if he wanted to collaborate on a tune together. He usually has a much more roots style approach and he was new for him working on something un-analog.
Despite this we immediately found the right balance because this rhythm, it is a digital style, but with a roots structure.
Accepted the invitation, in a short time, we found ourselves in Turin @ Serengheti to record a raw track.
He came with his leaflet, me with my stuff, and the result is what you hear now. The thing I like about this piece is its rapid and spontaneous genesis.
We didn't make any big adjustments, other than reverse the vocal parts according to Luca's advice (executive producer owner of the label): Originally I started the track and followed then by Galas intervention. The idea of reversing the two voices in the combo created an explosive effect that was very popular when played on dubplate style at our sound system sessions.
Galas is considered by professionals to be one of the best Italian voices in the current roots/dub scene. Creator of deep lyrics, this talented and conscious young boy sees music as a vehicle to sow seeds of freedom and stir consciences. It has been in business for a few years but has already totaled many world-class productions collaborating with various independent labels. To name a few: System Music, Amoul Bayi, Capra Records, Serengeti Music.
It is also in business as mc sound system, first of all for Jah Lion sound, he also sings on many big-caliber sounds and he attended big international festivals.
The final tracks have been voiced at Echotronix's studio in Aosta.
